Long time no “see”. Sorry for taking a little bit of a hiatus at the end of last season but felt it was necessary to recharge and just get better. Now that summer is almost over I wanted to give you guys an update and not just in writing but also video.
Around July 1st I started getting ready for my new season with workouts at GetSkillz Academy, in Livonia, Michigan. Here I mostly work out with Jamey Petree, a guy that has trained me for most of the last 5-6 years. I always enjoy working with Jamey because he tailors workouts for me and my needs and doesn’t get me through a routine that is usually meant for everyone. He tailors everything for a player’s needs. We have an open communication and that really helped both of us improve.
This summer I focused a lot on ball handling, 1 on 1 in the low post and shots from the 3 point line. I wanted to improve my post up game and my 1 on 1 scoring in order to make my life easier on offense. I want to be considered a forward that can do it all. Everyone knows how well I can shoot the ball and that I can do certain things in the post but after working with him I feel like I went from having 1-2 options in the post to having 4-5 really solid moves that I know I can get good shots from and feel comfortable with my outside moves in order to get a shot off.
I also lifted weights a lot because I felt the need to get stronger, and I managed to gain 3 kg which is huge for me. Right now I weigh probably the most since the NBA Draft when I was at 107kg, now I am at 106kg but feel great moving up and down the floor. So besides the weights and training with Jamey I also did some conditioning work. I really expect a lot out of myself this year and in order to really become a solid defender which I plan on doing I need to be in the best shape I could be in, so I have done mile runs almost daily, long jumps, jump ropes etc. It has been a fun summer and I look forward to a successful season for my team and for myself. I will slowly get back with other stories from the US later on once things get settled and I move back to Poland.
