Things weren’t exactly over after the first FIBA Europe Cup round 2 leg with the University of Tartu as Demir IBB was only up 9 and needed to provide a strong game in Estonia and edge out their opponents and advance.
As both teams have shown earlier last week, it would be a close match and Tartu wound up taking a 2 point lead early on after the first quarter with Demir IBB winning the second quarter and reducing the deficit to 1 point by halftime. The third quarter sparked a strong offensive push and Buyukcekmece won it with a partial of 21 to 12 but again dropping the fourth quarter 18 to 21.
The final score showed 73 – 68 in favor of Demir IBB and as a result, they will head to the FIBA Europe Cup Group G where themselves, Belfius Mons-Hainaut and Sigal Prishtina await a fourth competitor to join from the lucky loser pot.
Vlad had an off-night offensively, going for only 1 of 6, tallying 7 points and 2 assists but got some heavy-duty rebounds in key moments to secure some much needed possessions, 8 in total, for 13 overall efficiency.
