Hey guys, I’m really excited that I have the opportunity to write you. In this column I plan to post updates on how our games went, what I’ve been doing to better my game and other basketball related topics. And, hopefully I will be able to post game footage, too.
So, let’s start with a recap of last week: This past week was tough for us. We had two road games, one at TTU and the other at Lietuvos Rytas. TTU is always a hard team to play, and in their own gym they seem to make even more shots! They are very well coached and they run their plays thoroughly until they have a good shot. Fortunately for us, we managed to pull away in the second half to stay in contention for first place. Our second game against Lietuvos Rytas, a team rich in history and also a Euroleague participant, didn’t end as well as the TTU match, unfortunately. We battled the whole game and were tied for 40 minutes, there were 16 lead changes and the game went down to the wire.
After a bad stretch in January, we got ourselves together and have been playing better and better as a team and it really showed this game. I don’t think we deserved to lose this game, but Rytas definitely made the plays at the end when it counted. This upcoming week we face Tartu, at home, in the Estonian League. We need this win to secure home court advantage throughout the playoffs. It’s going to be another great battle and I hope to see Saku Suurhall packed tomorrow!
