After narrowly dropping game 1 of the FIBA Europe Cup First Qualification Round against BC Dnipro, Demir Insat Buyukcekmece and Vlad Moldoveanu had something to prove. And they did!
The team opened up a 20 to 13 lead in the first quarter and then went pretty much head to head with their opponents from Ukraine until the fourth quarter where a breakout run solidified not just the W but also the qualification. Demir IBB now looks to have gotten back on track, getting good production from both their foreign players and the Turkish ones and look a lot more dangerous with this working system.
Vlad led all scorers with 19 points on the evening on a scorching 71.4% from beyond the arc, adding 5 rebounds and a steal to his impressive stats. He finished with a +/- of 17, second only to team mate Olgucan Baykan and an efficiency rating of 17 as well.
The Romanian international player now has his eyes on BC Tartu in their second round match-up starting on the 4th of October in Istanbul. BC Rock Tartu is one of the teams that Vlad and BC Kalev Kramo simply dismantled on his way to an MVP season and title back in Estonia a few years back. More likely than not, history will repeat itself.
