What would in the end look like a fairly one sided deal, was actually much more, as Stelmet Zielona Gora took on Slask Wroclaw in the second round of the Tauron Polish basketball league.
Stelmet looked to go ahead early cruise to a win opening up a 22 – 8 scoreline with just a little under 4 minutes left in the first quarter. It wasn’t to be as SW closed out the quarter with a 10 – 2 run of their own.
Even with being able to maintain a comfortable lead through the second quarter, things started to look considerably tougher at the end of the third, when, with the help of a jump shot from Wroclaw’s Smith, the scoring margin narrowed down to a not so manageable 56 – 54 lead for Stelmet.
After going head to head into the fourth quarter, things finally started to fall into place for Stelmet at the 5:20 minute mark going up by 6, and they never looked back. Final score: 76 – 67 for Zielona Gora.
Keeping up with what we’ve been used to from the talented Romanian forward, Vlad Moldoveanu played for 28 minutes, managed to score 10 points off 3 of 6 field goals and a very clean 2 of 2 from the charity stripe, raked in 5 rebounds and had the second highest efficiency of the team at 14, just behind Dejan Borovnjak’s 16 and tied with Lukasz Koszarek.
